What is it you don’t know?

At Business Monitor we begin every client journey with a complimentary Discovery session where Dianne or I will chat with you to discuss what business issue brought you to us.

We want to understand your needs and consider the most important next step that we can take with you on a journey that aims to minimise risk and maximise success.

We don’t give away solutions, we don’t have a bag of goodies that you can pick up and run with, and most importantly, we believe in your business.

If we can’t help immediately, we look to see what we can build to assist you and, if we can’t, we provide connections to providers who can.

So, it was a disappointing conversation with a potential client several months ago who wanted a suite of “templates” immediately to apply for a tender that was due in the next few days.

When told no, we don’t have templates we have model documents, which we curate and develop for businesses AFTER the appropriate assessment of the business is completed and the needs identified the client was not impressed.

“How long will that take?”

“What’s it gonna cost me”

Clearly this was not a client who was looking to build a strong business but someone who wanted a quick fix to apply for a tender and my natural instinct was to walk away.

Did I walk away?

I was tempted, but business is business and, without realising, it I moved us both off a very angry ledge of frustration and offered a starting point to a tailored pathway of business assessment, document development and risk management with a plan to a long-term solution and not a short-term fix.

That tender submission was never done, and instead, after many heated sessions, meaningful change occurred so that when the next opportunity came forward the business was ready to respond, not react - the difference in the approach was a joy to observe. And so was the tender success.

It is so important for businesses to understand what it is they don’t know.

The Business Monitor may sound like a quick fix on paper, but it is an integrated approach that gives you an assessment of your current risk profile, your ability to manage that risk and the steps needed to grow your business without the shadow of a compliance misstep hanging over you.
